Tough day at the office!

The visit of champions elect Resolven to Plas Y Ddol brought about a bout of Resolvenitis that left the squad a bit short of numbers. The pooftas who caught it were Shaver, JD, Jack Holland, Alex Daniel and Dewi who caught it (first time hes caught something for a while) through twinging his hamstring in the warm up! Lucky tough old guys like Nelly and myself were on hand to at least give us three subs with Foxy completing a distinctly unholy trinity! Whilst out waiting for the KO we discussed who was the backs sub a quick sprint challenge showed it would be me although winning the race was the equivalent of a tortoise beating a slug and a asthmatic sloth!
We started well with Hodge dropping the KO right on the button, soon our pressure brought a penalty but Hodge pushed it wide and with it went our hopes for a upset. The Resolven backs were looking very dangerous and they soon cut through to score their first try. The forwards though were going well with Beans, Kelvan and Owen Phillips dominating the scrums if not the line outs. The backs were struggling and an alarming number of missed first up tackles led to Resolven scoring their second try. A comeback looked on the cards when superb hands put Cons free and despite playing out of position on the wing he showed the defense a clean pair of heels to score a fine try ably converted by Hodge. That however was as good as it got as aided by some poor tackling and wayward kicking we gave the Resolven backs plenty of ball to run back at us. At regular intervals we cracked and Resolven began to enjoy themselves eventually getting up to 62 points whilst despite the best efforts of the Goat, Cellan Edwards and Adam Evz we couldn't go past our 7. When we got the ball Kelvan, Foxy and Dylan who he replaced made the hard yards and our scrum was on top for the whole game. However it was the big hitters who were needed to help stem the tide and Doc, Skonz, Hodge, Pepsi, Owen Phillips and the Goat saved us from an even bigger score. The only plus point was that the 16 players who took the field dug in and played until the end meaning Nelly and Myself didn't have to go on:-). Seriously boys a wake up call today for the levels we want to get to if we want to do well next year against a well drilled team well led by Nicky Reed (big fan of this website apparently.) the talents there but we need to put in the effort to match it.
final score 62-7 to Resolven.
The apres match drinkies saw Dewi (twat of the match for pulling his hamstring in the warm up) and Goat (awesome tackling display and his running enterprise saw him take it from Skonz who was also never found wanting on defense) take on the two pint challenge with Dewi winning hands down. Foxy then took on Skonz in the 3 bottle Heineken challenge whilst Skonz finished first he did throw up and waste half his last bottle so im giving Foxy the victory. The final plus point was me winning the raffle 6 cans of bow very nice indeed.
No game next week as the young boys are in Benidorm remember boys you are ambassadors of your club behave yourselves and one in all in!!
